Bindi is my newest versatility prospect! She was bred by Kristi Walker, Leigh-Hi's shelties in Michigan and I can't thank her enough for sending this incredible girl my way,
Bindi is extremely smart and athletic and will do anything for food. She has good drive and biddability but also an "off" switch. She loves people and frequently requests belly rubs.
This moderate girl has a solid body that will go far in both conformation and performance. Not to mention she has beautiful sheltie type. We can't wait to see where our journey leads.
Agility
Bindi was born to do agility. She absolutely loves it and it is "her" sport of preference.
Bindi handles unlike any dog I have had before. She has some amazing skills for a young dog but it took me a little while to figure out timing of my cues with her because she is so driven and locks onto things early yet can turn on a dime. She is not a "push button" dog but running her is a thrill. We are either really on or wheels go everywhere. It's kind of like driving a sports car on ice. Did I mention she can move lol. We are starting to come more into our own and I am very excited to see where 2024 brings us.
Conformation
Being born in 2020, Bindi was a COVID puppy and there were not shows around so we did not get to take advantage of that cute "puppy bloom."
As an adult she has been a little slower to mature, but I got her out to a couple shows to practice and get used to things. No points yet but she held her own and won her class each time she was out.
Now at 3, she is finally coming into her own so look for her in conformation rings in 2024.
Trick Dog
Bindi started doing trick dog training with me right after I brought her home as a puppy. She loves to do tricks for treats!
She quickly racked up trick dog titles in both the American Kennel Club as well as Do More With Your Dog.
We took a short break from trick dog training while we were focusing on building our agility skills but have recently gone back to it and plan on adding a few more trick dog titles to our list in 2024!
FastCAT, Rally and Other Sports
Did I mention Bindi loves to run?! We let her try out the sport of FastCAT where she quickly earned her BCAT in just two weekends!
Bindi also tried out AKC Rally where she earned her Rally Novice title with 3 straight qualifying scores. She really seems to enjoy obedience style work so we are working with cleaning up those skills to debut in obedience as well.
And because we like to try new things, I also introduced her to Nose Work where she quickly picked up on sniffing out the odor. We have LOTS going on during 2024 but we may come back to polish our skills there in the future.
